About Prout Boiler

Prout Boiler, Heating and Welding was founded in 1945 by Ezra Cortland Prout in Youngstown, Ohio. It began as a small boiler service operation for homes and local churches. In 1948 the company expanded operations with an on-site machine shop. In 1949 Prout Boiler expanded into commercial heating and cooling systems and became signatory to Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 87. In 1952 the company hired its first mechanical engineering graduate, building its reputation as a leading boiler repair and installation company in Northeast Ohio.

Leadership passed to the second generation in 1962 when W. Cortland Prout graduated from Youngstown College with a mechanical engineering degree and helped launch the plumbing division in 1968, establishing Prout as a full-service mechanical contractor.

In 1991 Wesley C. Prout graduated from The Ohio State University and became the third generation of leadership. After Cort’s passing in 1994, Wesley became President and continues leading the company today.
